The Costa di Bussia estate in the hills of Monforte D’Alba was purchased by pharmacist, Cav. Luigi Arnulfo in 1874. The clay,
limestone and sandy soil, and the south to southeast amphitheatric exposure have always been ideal for the richly flavored, full-bodied wines of the region. The estate covers about 13 hectares (32 acres)
between 270 and 330 meters (850 to 1,050 ft.) above sea level. This is a famous property which first shipped wine to the west coast of America in the late 1800’s. It contains the acclaimed vineyard
sites of Campo del Gatto and Campo dei Buoi. The tufa (volcanic) cellars of the winery are ideal for aging and storing wines.
