Altana wines are produced at the Botter family’s winery, northeast of Venice in the Veneto region.  The hilly terrain and the soil, rich in minerals, provide the perfect venue for viticulture.  Most of the grapes come from family-owned vineyards close to the border with Friuli-Venezia-Giulia.  Botter is one of the leaders or organic wine production as well as grape juice in Europe. The Botters work not only with traditional, local varietals, such as Prosecco, but also with French vinifera, such as Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet.  Altana wines are considered in Italy to represent excellence.
